RIP, Lynn Ryan

From Classmate Chip Leonard -
I am saddened to pass along the news that Mike Ryan’s beloved wife Lynn passed away peacefully on January 25, 2015 at her home in Burke, VA. She had fought over the past year in a battle with cancer, and remained steadfast, cheerful, and faithful to the end. Lynn was born and raised in Virginia, graduating from Alexandria’s Edison High School and from James Madison University. Lynn and Mike were married at West Point in 1981, and joyously shared their lives with one another and a large host of family and very lucky friends over the next thirty-three years. She was a life-long athlete, especially enjoying volleyball, soccer, tennis, and pickle ball. Her passions included square and round dancing, RV travel, beach time, and simply sharing the joys of life and faith with her husband, family, and devoted friends. Lynn also thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the quality of life for others as teacher, office manager and tour guide. Lynn is the daughter of the late Laurel Lee Funk and stepfather Robert F. Funk. She is survived by our classmate, her beloved husband H. Michael Ryan III, daughter Jennifer Laurel Teal, stepdaughter Emily Dunlavey, and two sisters, Stacy Colby and Deana Taylor. The family plans a burial at Arlington Cemetery at 10 a.m. on May 22, 2015 and will hold a celebration of Lynn's life that evening at a Northern Virginia location to be chosen in the next few weeks. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those inclined to do so should make memorial donations to Capital Caring, or First Church of Christ, Scientist, Springfield.
