Invite all USMA 1970 Classmates to NCEA 2014

From Classmate Jim Sullivan - Brothers, Our class gift to our Alma Mater, The National Conference on Ethics in America, will be held at West Point between Sunday, 19 October 2014 and Saturday, 25 October, 2014. It will last three days, and the exact days are yet to be set. Due to sequestration, NCEA has had ups and downs in the last two years -- on again, off again. With a new emphasis on the need to strengthen the pillar of character formation at school, NCEA has a new format, and is more cadet-centered and more focused on setting our house in order, with no outreach to other institutions for this year. When the Supe perceives that we are back on track as a bastion of character formation, he will return to NCEA’s outreach mode. So while the exact usage of our gift is under redesign, this letter comes to you from the Class NCEA committee with the authority of class president Dave Brown and the class executive group. This is an invitation to all members of ’70 to come to West Point for the Conference to observe, to provide strong transparency for Class members to see NCEA’s weight and impact, and to constructively assess our class’s participation, pro and con. In the future, the committee may be asked to help the Academy with the outreach effort to other universities, to populate future conferences with both delegates and speakers/mentors. Many of us have relationships which could help that mission. There is no compensation for travel expenses to NCEA; we are strictly on our own nickel. In the past 29 years, there have been a dozen or so of us at the conference. The more the better. If you have questions, please call me at 219-616-1976, or email at Papasully@aol.com. I look forward to seeing you at West Point in October. Best Regards, on behalf of the Class of ’70 NCEA Committee, Serve with Integrity, Sully James P. Sullivan, Jr., Ed. D., P. E.
