Reporting the Death of Lawrence B. Wilkins, H3




Retired Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence B. Wilkins of Herndon, VA died Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 64 years of age, following a brief battle with cancer.

A 1970 graduate of the United States Military Academy, he retired from the United States Army after over 22 years of service. The United States of America awarded him with the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, and many other awards.

After his retirement, Lieutenant Colonel Wilkins worked with ASQ Section 5011 serving the section twice as Section Chair, and for many years as Education Chair. At the time of his death, he was employed by Analytical Services, where he worked for 15 years.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilkins was born in Philadelphia, PA. A self-taught comedian, he enjoyed science fiction/fantasy, model trains, the Muppets, dogs, and spending time with his family.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilkins is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susanne V. Wilkins of Herndon, VA; son Bradford Wilkins of Herndon, VA; daughters Beverly Wilkins of Dacula, GA and Carolyn Wilkins Davis of Herndon, VA; and a sister Donna Barker of Easton, MD.

Interment with full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on March 21 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society .
