COL Dave Allbee to Retire 27 May 2011

COL David C. Allbee ’70 , Professor, USMA, and Head of the Department of Chemistry and Life Science retires on May 31, 2011 after 41 years of distinguished service to the Army and West Point. He retires as the Army’s senior Colonel and will be promoted to Brigadier General, as is tradition for all retiring Department Heads. As every cadet must take chemistry, COL Allbee saw over 24,000 cadets pass through Bartlett Hall during his time at West Point! And during his twenty-year tenure on the Admissions Committee (nine as Chairman), 35% of the Long Gray Line was admitted to the Academy. COL Allbee has surely made an indelible mark upon West Point, the Corps of Cadets, and the U.S. Army.

  1. Great Boat Ride - Dave and Sue hosted a fantastic ride down the Hudson on the Supe's Boat last evening (26 May) with many of Dave's friends and Family. Weather was perfect (for a change up here!). Classmates Bill Taylor, Don Blakeslee and Frank Monaco were there (pictures to follow!). Next up - Retirement ceremony today 27 May at Ike!

PS: note that we still have two classmates on Active Duty, both Army Doctors. But they have not been on continuous duty - they volunteered to be recalled and were activated. COL Don Blaskeslee is on the staff at USMA's Keller Hospital, and COL Fred Lough is serving in the Washington DC area.
