McGill, John “Jack” 63 of Lake Suzy FL formerly of East Providence passed away Monday. He was the husband of Diane M. McGill. Born in Berlin, NH, he was the son of Francis (Landell) McGill and the late L.H.R. McGill.
Jack graduated from East Providence High School in 1965. He attended Andover Preparatory Academy for one year before his entrance to the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated from West Point in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served five years in the United States Army - stationed at numerous bases including a years tour in Korea. Once his military career was over, he attended Western New England College of Law and graduated in 1979 receiving his Juris Doctorate . Jack also attended Temple University and graduated with a Master's of Law in Trial Advocacy and Taxation.
Jack worked for various packaging companies in executive level positions. He opened his own general law practice in Oswego, New York and then started a real estate law practice with his son Ryan in East Providence, Rhode Island. After retiring in 2006, he and his wife moved to southwest Florida to enjoy his favorite hobby of golf. There he made many wonderful friends and memories. Jack truly lived his life to the fullest.
Besides his beloved wife Diane he is survived by his mother Patty McGill of Charlotte, NC, two sons Ryan and Justin McGill both of Narragansett, RI, a step-daughter Sarah Russ of Syracuse, NY, one brother James McGill of Chatham, NY, four sisters Margaret Troufield of Attleboro, MA, Mary Karouz of Seminole, FL, Molly McGill of Charlotte, NC, Pam McGill of Attleboro, MA , and four grandchildren Quinn Mae, Kullen, Cole, and Kai McGill. A memorial service for Jack will be held on Saturday at 12 PM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Visitation will be from 11AM – 12 PM. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to AMVETS National Service Foundation 4647 Forbes Boulevard Lanham, MD 20706
