The Tombs

From classmate Perry Casto - Recently our classmate, Terry Nyhous, was doing some sightseeing with his daughter in DC and stumbled on this sign. He was so amazed that it still exists he had his picture made by it. Request that you send it out to the class, while it may not mean much to most of our classmates, it is a landmark of gargantuan importance to those of us who attended the USMA Prep. Some may not remember it, Jim Mowery and Dave Dawson come to mind. But that only proves David Crosby was right when he said, “If you remember the sixties you weren’t there.”

_____________

My heart was definitely heavy laden and filled with much sorrow as I read of the passing of a dear fellow classmate from the Class of '65. Connie was unlike so many other members of our class--she was caring, loving, generous, humble, modest, sincere, and always accepting of those who did not fit into the numerous cliques that permeated PAHS. I can still see her sparkling eyes and hear her laughter. She will be sorely missed for all the love she exuded. May God comfort you, Terry, and your children, and may He grant you peace as you deal with Connie's absence.

Dear Terry and family,
Sally joins me in sending our heartfelt sympathy and our love to you, your children and families. A last farewell to such a wonderful lady, wife, mother and friend is a heart ache for those who knew her and difficult to bear for those closest to her. Knowing that others also loved Connie does little to ease your pain, but it may help that you know her loss is felt by so many.

Doc Blakeslee to remain on AD at USMA until 2017!

Please let the class know that it was down to the wire but I have been granted a four-year extension at West Point. Betsey and I look forward to seeing members of the Class of '70 for the 45th Reunion. I don't think we could have imagined when we met in 1966 that we'd be living at West Point when we were 66! From: bill.chavez@comcast.net Subject: 2013 Golf Outing Video Gents, First, another resounding "Thanks!" to Pete and Satch for all their work in setting up and pulling off yet another great outing. It was a real pleasure seeing all of you again and we continue to lament the fact that too many could not make it. It sounds like we will try next spring's outing right here in Houston. It should also be a great one and I hope the turnout is even better. In the meantime, take a look at last week's video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuBVN1EXvxc&feature=youtube_gdata Best regards and still trying to be eager...but never obnoxiously, ...Willie

2013 USMA 1970 Golf Tour Information and Hawaii Football Stuff

Classmates and Friends, Sorry to be late, but hot off the press is the letter and Reservation Form for our 23rd Class Golf Tour - Carlsbad, CA September 3-8, 2013. Please review the letter and if you can attend fill out the NEW Reservation Form (a bit "busy," but hopefully self-explanatory) covering all three (3) events. Some things to remember when filling out the form: You CAN fill it out, save it as a new file with your name in the file.name and email it to me You CANNOT email me your check, or direct check-to-bank to me ... yet. But it should be here next year! Mail that in by March 15th. Put a "0" or a number in each of the yellow spaces on the Reservation Form - it does not auto-compute, yet, but in the works. Check the appropriate "Yes" and "No" boxes. Carlsbad golf, dinners, mulligans, and Class Scramble - you do NOT need to do the indicated computations on the form - unless you want to South Padre: Coming? Yes or No, and if Yes - an Arrival Date Army-Hawai'i Football in November Order football tickets (Yes or No) Plan to come (Yes or No) and Arrival Date Prefer to play golf on 1 or more days Before, After, or Both (# of days you want to play would be helpful, too, now that I think of it) I need a number of people participating on the CA Tour, and Yes/No answers on the other two. Any balance you have on account with me will be shown under account balance ("+$27" means you have $27 stored with me - A minus number means you owe more) Some of you pay more than the $150 deposit, so just write that number in. Class Scramble will be paid for on the Reservation Form this year - unless one of you wants to collect it Mulligans will be collected on the Reservation Form, also. That means you will order them, but not actually pay for them until the final bill. Again, unless you want to collect the mulligan money. I know, I'm taking too long to explain the letter, but there are a lot of things going on this year and several changes to the way we do business - bear with me. And, now that we have two grandsons you all have 50% less priority!!! If you need more info on the grandsons, I'll send you the Christmas Letter. Thanks to those of you that sent birthday wishes on Facebook - I don't visit there much (nor the networking sites), but may later on. I won't use the bully pulpit very often, but I'm getting tired of NO one taking any responsibility for ANY thing. I know why I got turned out and it was MY fault! Happy New Year!! ATTACHED FILE Jim Crawford PS: My email list is pretty much up-to-date, but if you see someone missing, either forward it to them or tell me their email address. However, I can only send to 1/2 of you at one time.
